This job contributes to Coffee Concepts’ success by guiding business decisions using data analysis and consulting skills that result in predictive models, understanding complex analytical relationships, and developing a quantitative return on investment. This position leads a team of data/decision scientists and data analysts supporting data quality, reporting/visualization, and loyalty initiatives.
• Create a team environment that supports diverse perspectives, innovative practices, and a bias for action.
• Mentor/instruct junior analytics partners in best practices around the proper design, build, and automation of data science models to support operational business processes.
• Recruit, train, develop and supervise data scientist, decision scientist, and data analyst partners.
• Drive the engagement, development, and performance of all members of their team.
• Collaborate with business partners to define key business priorities and co-craft strategy based on existing data solutions.
• Serve as an embedded data science thought partner for business stakeholders across participating markets, helping to define and shape business questions and translate them into actionable analytical plans.
• Evaluate unstructured strategic questions from the business teams and define roadmap for potential data solutions working cross-functionally across international, regional, technical, and analytics teams.
• Understand/assess data availability and quality across markets. Execute extraction and synthesis of data extracts from various databases, perform exploratory data analysis, cleanse, massage, and aggregate data to uncover insights and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
• Use a Systems Thinking approach to influence the planning and build of evergreen data products that are flexible, adaptable, scalable, and sustainable across markets.
• Leverage and enhance Starbucks’ data, data science development, and ML deployment using our cloud platform (Azure, Databricks).
• Build and scale creative data science solutions to solve unique and challenging business problems.
• Drive creation of business insights, visualizations, and recommendations; create and lead presentations suited for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Convert and show the value of data science and related insights to business leaders and broader analytics community.
• Years within data science field or discipline: 7 years’ experience
• Education: BA or BS with concentration in quantitative discipline (Stats, Math, Comp Sci, Engineering, Econ or similar)
• Experience in working on large, early-stage projects with a focus on identifying innovations & emerging opportunities.
• Experience in working with SE Asia markets with data and analytics.
• Experience leading data scientists, decision scientists, or data analysts.
• Experience with cloud tech for data and analytics solutions (Azure, AWS, Databricks).
• Experience working with retail, CRM, and/or digital data.
