Wellington College Bangkok opened in August 2018 and has quickly gained a reputation for being one of Bangkok’s leading international schools. Currently the School has 800+ students aged between 2 and 16, across Pre-Nursery to Year 11. In August 2024 we will open a Sixth Form for students aged 16-18 and the eventual plan is to accommodate 1500+ students. About this position

The Purchasing Officer is responsible for overall purchasing functions, ensuring materials and services are procured economically and delivered on time.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall purchasing functions, to ensure materials and services are purchased in the most economical manner with the on-time delivery.
• Source new suppliers, materials, goods, products, services and negotiating the best or most cost-effective contracts and deals.
• Compare prices and qualities from suppliers, to ensure purchasing materials at right price, the right supplier, right quantities and on time delivery.
• Collaborate with various departments to understand their requirements, to ensure product pricing specification are met user requirement, including the payment process with the Finance & Accounting Department.
• Check the opening of PR and issue Purchase Orders and related documentation, maintaining accurate records within the system.
• Follow up orders, track and control the delivery of goods or services to ensure that suppliers deliver according to agreement.
• Update and maintain purchasing records and documentation systematically of all orders, payments, and received stock.
• Assist in the receiving of goods and services, and work in cooperation with the accounting team to ensure items ordered, received and paid for are documented and accounted for.
• Assist with any tasks or other assignments as per the needs of the organization and the management team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or other related fields.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Purchasing or Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics or other related fields. Preferably in a school business or apparel industry is advantage.
• Multi-sourcing experience, knowledge of import/export regulations are plus.
• Good understanding of accounting standards regarding purchasing procedures.
• Good communication skills in both Thai and English.
• Good knowledge in computer skills. Able to use Word and Excel with sufficient skill to maintain purchasing records.
• Must be a person of high integrity. Good interpersonal skills and well done in teamwork.
• Detail oriented, Able to consistently maintain records and accumulate data from the purchasing process.
• Proactive, Logic thinking, Problem-solving abilities.
• Negotiation Skills and Communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, working within tight deadlines whilst quality and attention to detail.
• Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Stay positive in time of challenge and turn into enthusiastic to figure out the problem.
