About this position

The VP, Operational Risk Management Team Lead is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and operation of the Operational Risk Management Framework and Policies across the Bank, collaborating with various business units to manage operational risks, and promoting a culture of risk awareness.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the Operational Risk Management Framework and Policies are established, reviewed and operating properly in all the relevant units.
• Collaborating with Consumer and Wholesale Business Units and Support Units teams to perform new activity, new product review and ensure operational risks arising from Business are properly considered from risk perspective.
• Defining a risk-based approach to identify, assess, monitor, and report various types of operational risks and liaise with the related units to ensure the framework is in place across the Bank.
• Promoting an operational risk monitoring and risk awareness culture across the Bank including training sessions and materials.
• Coordinate with relevant units in utilizing tools/systems in operational risk management.
• Providing dashboard and report of operational risk status to management and related risk committees including related regulatory compliance.
• Provide advice and perform assurance testing on Business and Support Units key controls that are documented in the Key Risk and Control Self-Assessment.
• Provide oversight, advice and guidance to Business Units and Support Units on managing their third party, outsourcing and insourcing risk.
• Manage the Bank’s insurance policies, review the adequacy of insurance policies coverage for the Bank’s operations.
• Perform as required other ad-hoc assignments in relation with Operational Risk Management.

Requirements

• Preferably 10 years working experience in operational risk, internal audit or related field of financial services industry.
• Bachelor or master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, MBA or related areas.
• A good understanding of process controls to help resolving control failures and challenge proposed control improvements.
• Good understanding of financial products.
• Strong knowledge of wholesale banking (preferrable).
• Ability to work in a pressurized environment while keeping constructive, learning mindset.
• Ability to establish and grow strong relationships with various stakeholders on all levels of the organization.
• Fluent in English, strong communication and writing skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work interpedently.
