About this position

The Painting/Coating Supervisor (NACE Level 2) is responsible for supervising all blasting, painting, and tank cleaning activities, ensuring compliance with shipyard schedules and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all blasting, painting and tank cleaning activities and ensure that all works are completed according to the agreed shipyard schedules.
• Ensure that all materials and equipment requirements are made available prior to commencement of works.
• Monitor blasting and painting performance of UTSE and contractors to ensure maximum utilization of all materials, consumables and equipment.
• Maintain close coordination with the Paint Manufacturer’s Technical Rep. To ensure conformance to the required surface preparation and paint application.
• Objectively appraise the performance of subordinates and motivate them to perform more difficult jobs.
• Ensure that all safety precautions are undertaken and personal protective equipment are in use prior to commencing of any blasting and painting works.
• Acknowledge and understand the policy, objective and target that the company issue, and have to perform follow this system to achieve the specific policy.
• Strictly abide by any procedures and any work instruction concerned.
• To suggest to improve the procedures or work instructions properly.
• Monitoring and preventive the effect of working to environment.
• To reduce the environmental impact which caused by the working activities.
• Prepare the procedure or work instruction as the case may be.
• Provide the training course about the procedures or work instructions to the concerned staff to understand and take action.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with direct experience.
• NACE Level 2 Certificate.
• At least 3 year in relevant experience. Experience in ship repair preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, Good negotiating skills, Good management and leadership skills.
• Fluent in English both writing and verbal.
