R&D Supervisor (Food Industry)
About this position
The R&D Supervisor in the food industry is responsible for leading research and product development initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with various teams to bring innovative food products to market.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct research to develop new food products, improve existing formulations, and investigate alternative ingredients.
• Experiment with flavors, textures, nutritional profiles, and shelf-life improvements of food products.
• Innovate based on market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies in the food industry.
• Develop product formulations and conduct sensory evaluations to ensure product quality and consistency.
• Perform ingredient functionality tests, nutritional analysis, and shelf-life stability assessments.
• Optimize product recipes to meet nutritional, quality, and cost parameters.
• Ensure all new products comply with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP) and labeling requirements.
• Document and validate processes to meet food safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to scale-up successful formulations for production.
• Work with marketing and sales teams to understand consumer needs and translate research into commercially viable products.
• Provide technical expertise for product launches and presentations to stakeholders.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Proven experience in R&D, food product development, or a similar role in the food industry.
• In-depth knowledge of food processing, ingredient functionality, and food safety regulations.
• Experience with lab and pilot plant equipment for testing and product development.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and product evaluation.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to food innovation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
