Regional Technical Director BU Asia
About this position
The Regional Technical Director works closely with various teams to ensure the implementation of global innovation projects and provides strategic direction and leadership for local technical systems and processes.
Responsibilities
• Define the overall strategy and vision (long term and short term) for the company’s technical/technology portfolio (product, service, solutions) across species/geographies/industries for BU Asia.
• Oversee development of the overall technical systems and processes across the region to ensure consistency where needed and customization as appropriate.
• Drive the innovation roadmap from the business strategy relevant for the species.
• Design and execute on the strategic roadmap per species. Work closely with the regional Strategy and BD Director and strategic marketing teams.
• Boost the innovation pipeline in BU Asia.
• Guide the New Product Development (NPD) process: provide inputs for NPD development process, product strategy roadmap, maximizing product efficiency and suggesting improvements, oversee the NPD development and prototype testing process.
• Develop understanding of customer experience and expectations, and generate ideas to lead the identification of product gaps and their resolution.
• Guide the technology transfer and training to the technical/production teams for new products and services.
• Research, study and identify new design technologies, products, raw materials and lead collaboration with external technology partners to increase the effectiveness, efficiency and innovativeness of the technology function at the company.
• Work with Product managers/Leadership team to understand business needs and refine the product roadmap.
• Coordinate, track and follow up product development progress, from requirements phase to field trials and deployment phase.
Requirements
• Doctor degree in shrimp aquaculture nutrition; strong knowledge of shrimp nutrition/biology.
• At least 15 years experience, with minimum 5 years in management role.
• Team player with excellent communication skills to network cross functionally and regionally.
• Business aptitude and strategic thinker, focus on commercial realization of new concepts and ideas.
• Ability to ensure execution of short-term plans whilst keeping the strategic agenda as key priority.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams.
• Proactive and result driven.
• Strong leadership skills with focus on driving growth, get close to the market and customer.
