Research & Design Engineer

Triumph Motorcycles is a British company with over 110 years of history. Our motorcycles are designed and developed in the UK by a team of experienced and highly skilled Engineers. Our motorcycles have won many awards around the world for their design and performance and Triumph continually develops new motorcycles to compete in this exciting and fast moving industry. Established in Thailand since 2002, Triumph now runs three factories, under the supervision of a UK management team, on the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Chonburi. These factories produce a wide range of high quality motorcycle components and assemble a range of high quality motorcycles.

About this position

Triumph Motorcycles is seeking motivated and passionate engineers to join their Design department in Thailand, focusing on the design and development of motorcycle components. The role involves working on various motorcycle projects throughout the product life cycle and ensuring quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Produce schemes of motorcycle assemblies on 3D CAD.
• Update and produce fully detailed drawings on 3D CAD to BS8888.
• Produce completed designs with the following parameters decided and fully specified
• Material
• Heat Treatment
• Surface Finish
• Geometric Tolerances
• When producing the above designs the following aspects should be considered:
• Manufacturing method
• Duty
• Strength/fatigue calculations
• Corrosion resistance
• Finishing
• Homologation
• Ease of assembly
• Cost
• Use of existing fasteners
• Clearance to other components
• Warranty data on similar components
• Department procedures
• Release components through the design change system.
• Liaise with other Triumph Departments and external suppliers.
• Produce and update EBOM’s.
• Produce specifications/planning drawings for suppliers.
• Capability to use computer programs and advanced analysis (e.g. FEA) if required.
• Follow Department and Quality Procedures.
• Assist in creating & updating department procedures.
• Support/ investigate problems in current Production, offering Design solutions backed up with necessary testing and supporting reports.
• Support any other task at the discretion of the Design Manager/ Senior Engineer
• Complete all the above responsibilities to agreed timescales and with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 2 years' experience in design field (automotive industry is a plus).
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Experience with using in 3D CAD software is a benefit.
