System Administrator/ IT Support
About this position
Responsibilities
• Troubleshoots and repairs PC hardware and peripherals.
• Builds PC systems including laptops and PDAs, using imaging software.
• Ensures latest firmware and service pack revisions are implemented.
• Connects devices to the local area network and domains.
• Configures, tests and implements new application servers.
• Provides support for telephony systems.
• Schedule and prioritize tasks allocated by the Service Desk.
• Configures and support equipment required for remote computing.
• Provides feedback to the Service Desk with task status.
• Supports the data backup and anti-virus strategy.
• Ensures hardware is maintained in accordance with contract schedules, and that software license agreements are enforced.
• Regularly liaise with business stakeholders for needs fulfillment and issue resolution communications.
• Provides support for audio-visual equipment.
• Provides user training and presents new user orientation in groups or one-on-one basis.
• Strong focus on high client satisfaction.
Requirements
Education:
• Formal Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent.
• Self-Study and Online Courses: Demonstrated proficiency through self-study or online courses on platforms like Coursera, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, etc., can be considered.
• On-the-Job Training: Practical experience gained through on-the-job training is highly valued, especially in entry-level roles leading to more advanced positions.
Experience:
• Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
• Strong experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
• Solid knowledge of system security, including intrusion detection systems and data backup/recovery.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Experience with virtualization and containerization tools like VMware, VirtualBox, or Docker.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Hands-on experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Huawei).
Trainer IT Skills:
• Ability to create training materials, guides, and documentation to assist in skill development.
• Proficiency in simplifying complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Capable of conducting workshops, seminars, and one-on-one training sessions.
• Strong mentoring skills to guide less experienced IT team members.
Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
