2D Designer (SPID) (1 Year Contract - Renewable)
About this position
Responsibilities
• Create new P&IDs in SPID as requested by MOC or Project, ensuring compliance with Covestro standards and industry best practices.
• Modify existing P&IDs to reflect process changes, equipment updates, or instrumentation modifications.
• Maintain and update P&ID database, ensuring consistency and accuracy of information.
• Generate reports from SPID, including equipment lists, line lists, and instrument lists.
• Ensure compliance with P&ID specifications, guidelines, and applicable industry standards.
• Collaborate with process engineers, equipment designers, and other disciplines to accurately represent process systems.
• Perform quality checks on P&IDs, verifying consistency with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and other engineering documents.
• Develop and maintain project documentation related to P&IDs.
• Assist in the development of P&ID standards and best practices for Owner.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input on P&ID-related issues.
• Interface with 3D modeling teams to ensure consistency between P&IDs and 3D plant models.
• Attend project meetings as applicable and keep notes of the same.
• Conduct P&ID walk-downs to verify as-built conditions (if necessary).
Requirements
• Diploma in Engineering or other related discipline with experiences in chemical or process industry projects;
• Experience in creating and managing P&IDs for chemical or process industry projects for at least 5 years.
• Proficiency in SmartPlant P&ID (SPID) software for at least 3 years.
• Strong understanding of process engineering principles and equipment.
• Familiarity with piping and instrumentation symbols and standards (e.g., ISA, ISO).
• Experience with other SmartPlant tools (e.g., SmartPlant Foundation) is a plus.
• Excellent technical computer skills in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Understanding of data integration between 2D and 3D design tools.
