About this position

The Field Services Engineer is responsible for the on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, requiring technical expertise in solar energy systems and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and wire solar panels, inverters, racking, and other related equipment on roofs, ground mounts, or other structures.
• Follow design plans, schematics, and manufacturer specifications to ensure correct system installation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, electrical codes, and safety standards during installation.
• Perform routine maintenance on solar PV systems, including cleaning panels, inspecting connections, and checking system performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with solar equipment, including panels, inverters, wiring, and monitoring systems.
• Replace or repair faulty components, ensuring minimal system downtime.
• Conduct testing and commissioning of new solar installations to ensure systems are functioning properly and efficiently.
• Use testing tools and meters to measure voltage, current, and resistance to verify proper system performance.
• Ensure all documentation and reports related to commissioning are completed and submitted as required.
• Address client inquiries, explain system operation, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Educate customers on system maintenance, monitoring, and energy-saving tips to maximize their solar investment.
• Communicate any issues or delays with clients and management in a clear and timely manner.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on-site.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that safety measures are followed by all team members.
• Participate in regular safety training and drills.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, repairs, and customer interactions.
• Complete and submit required paperwork, including job logs, maintenance reports, and service tickets.
• Use field service management software to update job status and track equipment usage.
• Provide feedback to management on potential improvements to installation and maintenance processes.

Requirements

• Relevant electrician certification is required.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of solar PV systems or similar electrical work.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar PV technology, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with field service management software and solar monitoring systems.
• Willing to travel from provinces to provinces for project works and installations.
