Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement Sky Group’s legal strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments and manage compliance programs to prevent legal issues.
• Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
• Ensure that contracts comply with applicable legal standards and minimize risk to the organization.
• Develop and maintain a contracts management system.
• Advise the executive team and board on legal matters related to corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
• Support the board in maintaining good governance practices and compliance with corporate laws.
• Prepare and oversee all documentation related to board meetings, shareholder meetings, and other corporate matters.
• Manage all litigation and dispute resolution matters, including coordination with external counsel as necessary.
• Provide strategic advice on litigation, settlement negotiations, and mediation.
• Develop and implement strategies to resolve disputes and manage potential legal exposure.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals to ensure high performance.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, ensuring continuous skill development and upskilling of team members.
• Allocate resources effectively and manage the legal team’s workload.
• Draft, review, and implement company policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on legal and compliance policies.
• Ensure that legal policies support business needs while minimizing potential risks.
• Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to manage and mitigate these risks.
• Collaborate with other departments to assess risks related to their functions and offer legal solutions.
• Lead initiatives to improve risk management and compliance awareness across the organization.
• Act as the primary point of contact for legal matters with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide clear, actionable legal advice to executives and department heads on complex business issues.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities as needed.
• Manage Sky Group’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
• Oversee compliance with data privacy laws and advise on data protection measures.
• Ensure the protection of the company’s intellectual property and confidential information.
• Prepare and manage the legal department’s budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
• Evaluate and negotiate fees with external counsel, balancing quality and cost.
• Track and report on the legal team’s financial performance and resource allocation.
Requirements
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Significant experience in a legal role, preferably in a corporate or in-house environment.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and compliance regulations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in managing a legal team and developing talent.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.
