About this position

A Tender Management Professional is a niche role focusing on the bidding process for control and protection systems within substations. This role requires a deep understanding of transmission system, distribution system, control & protection system and substation automation system to ensure that bids are both technically sound and commercially driven.

Responsibilities

The Substation Control & Protection System Bid Manager is responsible for handling the preparation and submission of bids related to control and protection systems for substation projects. This role involves coordinating with various internal teams, understanding client requirements, and ensuring that all proposals are driven, compliant, and technically robust.
• Lead the preparation of bids for substation control and protection systems, including both technical and commercial components.
• Develop and implement bid strategies to ensure competitiveness and compliance with client specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to capture vital information for bid proposals.
• Provide technical expertise in the design and implementation of control and protection systems for substations.
• Ensure that all technical aspects of the bid meet industry standards and client requirements.
• Engage with clients to understand their specific needs and requirements for control and protection systems.
• Present and explain bid proposals to clients, addressing any technical and commercial questions or concerns.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for control and protection systems, including hardware, software, labor, and other associated costs.
• Analyze and optimize costs to ensure driven pricing while maintaining quality and compliance.
• Ensure all bid documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within the required timelines.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all bid proposals and related communications.
• Identify and assess potential risks associated with control and protection system projects.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
• Work closely with multi-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and project management, to ensure alignment on bid proposals.
• Provide mentorship and support to team members involved in the bidding process.
• Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and the competitive landscape in control and protection systems.
• Use market insights to advise bid strategies and improve competitiveness.
• Ensure all bid proposals align with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards affecting control and protection systems (e.g., IEC, IEEE).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven at least 5 years of experience in bid management, specifically in control and protection systems for substations.
• Strong understanding of substation control and protection systems.
