Staff Engineer (Factory Sustainable Engineering)
About this position
Factory Sustainable Engineering (FSE) ‘s mission is to ensure the long-term sustainability of HGA factory’s manufacturing systems and processes. We introduce new technologies, develop innovative solutions and improvement projects to maintain and enhance the manufacturing system, ensuring it consistently meets Seagate’s product requirements.
Responsibilities
• Complex Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve complex issues related to equipment and processes by developing, optimizing, investigating root causes, and making decisions in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
• Innovation and Development: Initiate and support the development of HGA automation equipment and processes including recipe establishment-validation-control to meet goals and product roadmap requirements, driving innovation and continuous improvement
• Leadership and Project Management: Lead development efforts to enhance existing processes and equipment, apply new technologies as needed, and manage the transfer of project ownership from development teams
• Collaboration: Collaborate with product design engineers, equipment design engineering, process development teams, and factory teams to understand assembly process requirements, implement new processes/equipment, and optimize control methods
• Technology Networking: Network with key contacts outside their expertise, establishing themselves as technology leaders in their area of expertise, and determine methods and procedures on new assignments, potentially coordinating activities of other personnel
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical/Electronic, or a related field
• Excellent teamwork, leadership and coachability
• Excellent Interpersonal, communication, planning, organization and team skills, mentoring, training and presentation skills
• Effectively plan, control and take responsibility for design evaluation & results
• Extensive problem solving and critical thinking
• Ability to communicate complex technical material with groups outside of engineering and any support functions. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage conflicting deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment
• Basic factory financial knowledge, including ROI and budgeting. Fluent in English communication both spoken and written
• Minimum of 8 years of automation equipment/process experience
• Attain at least 70% out of 100 points for TEC assessment
• Experience in mechanical/electrical control/electronics design
• Experience in automation vision system design/application
• Experience in equipment improvement and optimization
• Experience in data analysis tools and AI/ML application
• Experience in Slider/HGA/HSA/Drive equipment or process development
• Experience in equipment or process issue investigation and debugging
• Experience in designing experiments and performing equipment/process optimization
• Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
