About this position
Responsibilities
• Design and develop tooling concepts to meet machining requirements and project specifications.
• Collaborate closely with CNC programmers to select the most appropriate cutting tools for machining operations.
• Place orders for tooling and manage procurement processes to ensure tools are delivered on schedule.
• Plan and oversee the tooling project timeline to align with trial and process verification stages.
• Monitor and coordinate tooling readiness for trial runs and ensure seamless integration throughout the production verification process.
• Manage tooling inventory to maintain appropriate stock levels, balancing operational needs and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot tooling-related issues during machining operations and propose effective solutions.
• Analyze drawings and machining processes to recommend suitable tools and machining parameters.
• Maintain and update tooling databases with usage, specifications, and performance records.
• Liaise with suppliers to evaluate and procure tools that enhance machining efficiency.
• Provide training and technical support to team members on tooling applications and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards in all tooling-related activities.
• Analyze engineering drawings and 3D models to define machining processes and select appropriate tools and equipment required for process implementation.
• Optimize CNC programs for complex parts using advanced CAD/CAM software.
• Design fixtures, jigs, and tooling to support machining operations.
• Develop and Manage Time Plans for Machining Process Implementation.
• Conduct process validation to ensure machining processes meet quality standards, including GD&T requirements.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e., Mechanical Engineering, or a related field).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining or precision manufacturing industries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on tooling performance optimization.
• Experienced in CNC machining processes, including turning, milling, and drilling, with proficiency in tooling selection and concept design.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles.
• Experience in managing tooling project timelines to ensure readiness for trials and process verification stages.
• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data-driven decision-making in tooling and machining processes.
• Knowledge of tooling management software and CAD/CAM programs (e.g., NX, Hypermill or similar).
• Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate tooling design, procurement, and readiness.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Good command of written and spoken English. TOEIC score of 600 or higher.
