Data center Lead (SysAdmin)
About this position
The Data Center Lead (SysAdmin) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of data centers, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of IT systems while leading a team and collaborating with IT teams for expansions and improvements.
Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day operations of the data centers, ensuring uptime, reliability, and security of all IT systems.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and related infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor a team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
• Collaborate with IT teams to plan and implement data center expansions, upgrades, and migrations.
• Develop and enforce data center and system administration policies, procedures, and standards.
• Monitor data center performance metrics and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage relationships with data center service providers, vendors, and equipment suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with data center security protocols, industry regulations, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to recommend improvements and innovations.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of experience in data center management and system administration, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
• Strong technical knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking, and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with system administration of Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, and cloud hypervisor such as VMWare and XenServer.
• Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
• Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and monitoring systems.
