Purchasing Officer
About this position
The Purchasing Officer is responsible for managing the procurement process, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services at the best possible cost. This role involves collaborating with various departments to understand their procurement needs, evaluating supplier options, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The Purchasing Officer must also stay informed about market trends, industry regulations, and potential risks to make informed purchasing decisions.
Responsibilities
• Conducting product research and sourcing new suppliers and vendors.
• Sourcing materials, goods, products, and services and negotiating the best or most cost-effective contracts, delivery targets, and deals with optimal terms.
• Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices.
• Liaise with reliable suppliers and other relevant departments on the purchasing process.
• Together with Purchasing Manager to decide the quantity and delivery time.
• Ensuring all stock is packaged appropriately and delivered to the correct location promptly.
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems that may impact business operations.
• Perform all activities in line with the HSE Policy and strategic objectives.
• Perform additional/special tasks from the Superior.
Requirements
• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
• Having a minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in related functions for a project-based company.
• Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors).
• Proficiency in the relevant management software programs (Example: SAP B-One).
• A team player in a dynamic environment within a matrix organization.
• Having knowledge of pump and valve will be an advantage.
• Having a positive attitude, open-mindedness, motivated and willingness to learn.
• Fluent in English both oral and written.
