Internal Audit Specialist
About this position
The Internal Audit Specialist is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. This role conducts audits across departments to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and financial accuracy. Experience in fields such as business real estate, healthcare, or e-commerce is a plus, as it brings valuable insights into industry-specific compliance standards, financial reporting requirements, and regulatory challenges.
Responsibilities
• Audit Planning: Collaborate in developing the annual audit plan by identifying key risk areas and business priorities, considering industry-specific compliance requirements for real estate, healthcare, or e-commerce as applicable.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments for various operational areas to identify potential compliance issues, control weaknesses, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Internal Controls Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, ensuring that business activities comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Audit Execution: Perform comprehensive audits, including testing procedures, analyzing data, conducting interviews, and documenting findings. Ensure audits are completed accurately and timely.
• Compliance Monitoring: Monitor adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and legal standards. Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Reporting: Prepare audit reports and communicate findings to management, outlining significant risks, key issues, and actionable recommendations.
• Process Improvement: Work with departments to implement audit recommendations and optimize processes, ensuring continuous improvement in risk management and compliance.
• Industry-Specific Knowledge: Leverage experience in business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or related sectors to understand industry-specific regulatory environments, financial reporting requirements, and operational risks.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Develop strong working relationships with various departments to promote understanding and cooperation in achieving compliance and governance goals.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or compliance, ideally with exposure to business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or related industries.
• Certifications: CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with audit management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Advanced skills in MS Excel and data analytics tools are a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing complex financial data.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements specific to business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or similar fields.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present audit findings.
