AP Accounting Specialist
About this position
The AP Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing and processing accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices, and maintaining efficient vendor relationships. This role is critical in supporting the finance team by handling high-volume invoicing, reconciliations, and vendor communications, and requires familiarity with industry-specific regulations and nuances within business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or related sectors.
Responsibilities
• Invoice Processing: Accurately process a high volume of invoices, including verification, coding, and data entry in the accounting system, following internal policies and procedures.
• Vendor Management: Build and maintain effective vendor relationships. Address inquiries regarding payments, invoicing discrepancies, and account statements.
• Reconciliation: Regularly perform month-end and year-end reconciliations of AP ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are accurate and compliant.
• Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports according to company policy, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax and regulatory requirements.
• Compliance & Documentation: Maintain organized records of all AP transactions and ensure compliance with financial policies, controls, and audit requirements. Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy within the AP function.
• Industry-Specific Knowledge: Leverage knowledge of business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or other relevant industries to ensure compliance with sector-specific regulations and best practices.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 4+ years of AP or general accounting experience, preferably in business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or a related industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and MS Excel. Experience with AP automation tools is a plus.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory compliance, accounting policies, and industry-specific nuances in business real estate, healthcare, e-commerce, or a similar field.
• Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service and vendor relations.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze issues, identify solutions, and follow through on resolutions promptly.
