Carbon Markets Specialist
About this position
Our strategic partner is a leading player in climate solutions, seeks a passionate and experienced Carbon Markets Specialist to drive our trading operations. This pivotal role will involve sourcing, executing, and managing carbon credit trades across global markets, including Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), and Carbon Offsets. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and strategic vision, ensuring that our trading practices align with regulatory frameworks while maximizing profitability and impact, whilst contributing to our mission of mitigating climate change and promoting a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
• Lead the full cycle of carbon credit and EAC trading, from sourcing to execution, across voluntary and compliance markets.
• Manage carbon offset trading platforms and exchanges (e.g., I-TRACKs Evident Registry, Asia Pacific Carbon Exchange, Climate Exchange Asia, FTIX).
• Onboard clients by managing Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) processes. Execute trades through brokers, traders, and regional partners, ensuring smooth and profitable operations.
• Analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and pricing mechanisms to capture new trading opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with key market players, including partners, brokers, registries, and verification bodies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between trading strategies and project development goals.
• Ensure compliance with carbon market regulations, standards (e.g., VCS, Gold Standard, Puro Earth), and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to the development of innovative carbon products and strategies to expand Azolla Climate's market presence.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
• Hands-on experience in carbon markets, carbon trading, or environmental commodities.
• Strong understanding of voluntary and compliance carbon markets, including trading platforms and environmental regulations.
• Proven track record of executing trades and managing portfolios in carbon credits, EACs, or RECs. Fluency in English and strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with partners, traders, and stakeholders across the region.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships in the industry.
• Exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex market data and make informed decisions.
