The Social Studies Teacher at Montfort College Secondary Section will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging curriculum that fosters critical thinking and a deep understanding of historical, geographical, and cultural contexts. This position will report directly to the Head of the Social Studies Department, collaborating with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning and student achievement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet curriculum standards for social studies.
• Facilitate classroom discussions to promote critical thinking and active student participation.
• Assess student performance through assignments and tests, providing constructive feedback.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and collaboration.
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance the social studies learning experience.
• Organize and supervise field trips and guest speakers to provide experiential learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects to promote a comprehensive understanding of social studies.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and classroom activities.
• Stay informed on current events and trends in social studies education to improve teaching methods.
• Participate in professional development and contribute to the school community through committees and extracurricular activities.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field with a focus on Social Studies.
• Valid teaching certification or license for secondary education.
• Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum, including history, geography, and civics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and collaborate with staff.
• Ability to implement innovative teaching strategies and assess student performance effectively.
