Trade Compliance Specialist SEA
About this position
Critical position add in Thailand to ensure full coverage of customs and foreign trade regulations being covered in local operational processes.
Responsibilities
• Is responsible for the timely execution of NPI WF customs step, incl. HS code assessment, origin determination and full regulatory screening in view of applicable Import & Export Control regulations, incl. license requirements
• Is responsible for the product HS classification process, using Classifier tool and managing the interface between 3rd party system and SAP
• Has a key role in leading the Origin and Preferential Origin calculation for Momentive finished goods. This includes working with local operational teams and 3rd party on origin determination, origin declarations, as well as origin certifying documentation.
• Acts as contact person to local TH customs and other governmental agencies as required
• Provides training and coaching to key stakeholders periodically, incl. regulatory updates and compliance awareness
• Collaborate with global team members, business and other key stakeholders and ensure global trade compliance policies are followed locally
• Work with 3rd party customs brokers and apply regular and systematic audit discipline
• Lead trusted trader programs with Thailand customs, as apply
• Support or lead continuous improvement projects regarding customs and trade compliance initiatives; Identify potential risks and develop actionable plans to mitigate.
Requirements
• Min 5 years of work experience in Customs and Trade
• Customs Specialist certified in Thailand
• Solid SAP user skills, preferably GTS module
• Experienced in Customs valuation and classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Free Trade Agreement incl. product preferential origin calculation, export controls, and/or other technical areas related to international trade activity
• Demonstrated strengths will include a highly collaborative work style, the ability to anticipate problems, success in resolving difficult situations and effective communication.
• Ability to work independently and pro-actively, with minimal guidance and supervision from remote.
• Ability to exercise leadership, self-initiative, and sound judgment.
• Proficiency in a technology-enabled environment – experience with trade automation, global trade management systems/software and data analytic tools is highly sought after such as SAP and Excel.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required (approx.. 10%)
