About this position

The Accounting Supervisor (GL&TAX) is responsible for managing the general ledger accounting, tax compliance and reporting, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.

Responsibilities

General Ledger Accounting:
• Manage and maintain the general ledger (GL) system, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS).
• Perform account reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Assist in financial audits and internal control reviews, providing documentation and explanations as required.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper recording of transactions and expenses.

Tax Compliance & Reporting:
• Prepare and file tax returns (income tax, VAT/GST, sales tax, and other applicable taxes) within deadlines.
• Ensure accurate calculation and timely submission of taxes owed by the company.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant with tax requirements.
• Assist in tax planning and strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Prepare tax provisions and reports for financial statements and tax filings.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors for more complex tax matters and ensure accurate reporting.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvements.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, providing insights on financial performance.
• Prepare management reports, highlighting key financial metrics and tax obligations.

Compliance & Controls:
• Ensure compliance with internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
• Maintain updated knowledge of accounting standards, tax laws, and best practices in the industry.
• Participate in the development and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on general ledger and tax functions.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and tax regulations.
• Experience in preparing tax returns and working with tax authorities.
• Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken. This includes the ability to clearly communicate complex financial and tax information.
