Structural Drafter
About this position
The Structural Drafter provides solutions to problems in the Structural Drafting discipline without supervisory approval and will evaluate and select solutions from established operating procedures and/or scientific procedures.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Implement Prefabrication, Erection methods, and DC reports information into shop drawing
• Prepare discipline deliverables such as:
• Detailed design drawings
• Fabrication yard sequence and layout drawings
• Part drawings
• Assembly drawings
• Nesting drawings
• Piece mark and NDT drawings
• As-built drawings
• CNC data
• Part/check templates to assist fabrication
• Construction drawings
• MTO preparation
• Prepares, issues, and updates material and weight data take-off
• Complete necessary discipline deliverables in a timely, accurate, and complete manner
• Create engineering detailed engineering drawings compliant with client requirements
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and advancements in piping design, and implement them to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the drafting process
• Familiar with industry-standard computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, TEKLA, ProNest, Navisworks, and Revit, to create and modify accurate 3D models, assemblies, shop drawings, and BOM for fabrication and installation
• Maintain drawing register on a project-by-project basis which catalogs all drawings and sketches issued
• Ensure the quality of drawings as per drawing guidelines
• Ensure unique drawing numbers are assigned to each drawing issued
• Ensure references to project documents and drawing scales are correct
• Ensure drafting deliverables are issued per client specification, level 2 procedures, and within the agreed schedule and budget
• Issue drawings/sketches only after they have been reviewed and appropriately signed by the authorizing Engineer
• Maintain all the mark-ups drawings and filing project-wise
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager or Section Leaders
Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Minimum High School Diploma, with either a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field; or a minimum of 3 years of drafting experience in the Oil and Gas Construction Industry
• Detailed knowledge of Associated Industry Detailing Standards
• Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, TEKLA, ProNest, Navisworks, and Revit, to create and modify accurate 3D models, assemblies, shop drawings, and BOM for fabrication and installation
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards for structural design, such as API, AISC, ACI, and ASCE
• Programming, 3D Model Creation, and Menu/Macro compilation skills
