About this position
We are seeking a motivated Intern to join our team and assist in dimension control for various fabrication and construction projects. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for active students to gain hands-on experience in dimension control in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Under supervision and with guidance, you will be involved in learning and assisting with:
• Pipe Mill Dimension Control:
• Assisting in the inspection and checking of Can and Tubular components
• Braces Rack Dimension Control:
• Helping check and ensure all braces meet dimension control standards
• Pile Rack Dimension Control:
• Supporting inspections of Legs, Piles, caissons, buoyancy tanks, and all other elements related to jackets and decks
• Fabrication Shop / East Shop:
• Learning how to perform dimension checks in the Fabrication and East Shops, specifically related to jackets and decks
• Pipe Shop Dimension Control:
• Assisting in inspecting fabricated pipe spools for dimensional accuracy
• Deck and Erection Area Support:
• Helping with the dimension control of deck assemblies, layout footprint, geometry calculations, and reference line surveys. Observing load-out operations and settlement surveys
• Assisting with jacket assemblies, footprint calculations, and layout activities for jackets
• Observing load-out operations and assisting with surveys during project stages
• Marine and Yard Facility Support:
• Assisting Marine Base and Yard Facility staff with dimension control tasks as directed
• Learning and Adhering to Safety Standards:
• Ensuring a high standard of safe working practices and maintaining productivity while learning
• Surveying Techniques:
• Learning how to use various survey measurement equipment (e.g., Auto Level, Total Station) and understanding the basics of surveying methods
• Learning Codes and Specifications:
• Gaining knowledge about implementing relevant Codes and Specifications in surveying and dimension control.
• Collaborative Work:
• Working with various departments and disciplines to gather and report necessary data during fabrication stages
• AutoCAD & Calculation Program:
• Observing and learning how to operate AutoCAD and use calculation software (e.g., MK3B, Best Fit) to assist with dimension control tasks
Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Active college student in D3/D4/S1. (Geodesy, Civil Engineering)
• Minimum GPA must be 3.00 (from scale 4.00)
• Internship placement is available in McDermott Batam Fabrication Yard and the minimum duration should be done in 4 months
• Applicants should not be participating in another internship program
• Applicants should have strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Attention to detail and a willingness to follow instructions
