DIRECTOR I PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
About this position
The R&D Director, SEA is responsible for the scientific and technical direction and leadership of the SEA Research and Development Team across two geographic locations (Singapore and Thailand).
Responsibilities
• Lead the SEA Product Development team across two sites (Thailand and Singapore) and deploy appropriate resources against development projects, directing inter-team and cross-functional working when required.
• Direct and prioritize work per regional and business unit priorities and projects which support the strategic plan for growth and profit improvement.
• Represents SEA in relevant Global and Regional McCormick forums ensuring SEA alignment with functional goals and supporting the sharing of best practices and innovation ideas.
• Develops strong regional technical customer engagement and relationships via on-site and customer’s facility visits.
• Build technological and leadership capabilities across PD team by developing an efficient team committed to excellence, performance and shared accountability.
• Develop top talent and manage and develop technical and leadership competency to address succession planning needs.
• Create a robust technical community to develop best in class practices and allow transfer of knowledge across functions, whilst maintaining required confidentiality.
• Lead Product Development activities to support local continuous cost improvement CCI program to improve margin performance that delivers a competitive edge, such as formula simplification and rationalization.
• Implement effective systems and processes to enable functional and organizational effectiveness.
• Ensure activities related to the functional compliance with relevant Acts/ Legal Requirements, Business Ethics and Food Manufacturing Standards.
• Manage adherence to applicable Global, Regional and Local policies and standards to protect proprietary information.
• Responsible for the overall health and safety of the SEA team ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Science (Food Science) or Technical - Quality/Research & Development.
• 10 Years Product Development Experience in Food Industry.
• Extensive experience in product development formulation (food) and demonstrated experience in the associated manufacturing processes.
