Pet Caretaker (Vet Assistant)
About this position
The Pet Caretaker will work closely with the veterinary at the Mars APAC Pet Center in Chonburi, Thailand, supporting pet health management, documentation, and overall operations. This role involves managing the daily needs of the pets, supporting research and health programs, and ensuring accurate record-keeping in collaboration with all internal panels.
Responsibilities
• Pet Care and Health Management:
• Support veterinarians in monitoring pet health, conducting regular physical and behavioral assessments, and ensuring the welfare of pets.
• Administer prescribed treatments or medications under veterinary supervision.
• Conduct routine checks for signs of disease, distress, or behavioral issues and escalate concerns to the veterinary team promptly.
• Documentation and Data Management:
• Collect and maintain detailed records of pet health, behavior, nutrition, and care routines.
• Assist in compiling reports for research, audits, and accreditation purposes.
• Organize and update compliance-related documentation in coordination with the veterinary team.
• Operational Support:
• Assist in the planning and execution of pet health and management programs.
• Collaborate with all panels, including veterinary technologists, behaviorists, and operational technicians, to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of pet care supplies, including food, medications, and equipment.
• Facility and Equipment Management:
• Maintain clean and safe environments for pets, including kennels, exercise areas, and isolation units.
• Perform routine cleaning, sanitization, and equipment maintenance as needed.
• Support the safe transport of animals within the facility or to external locations.
• Collaboration and Training:
• Work collaboratively with the veterinary, pet center manager, and other panels to ensure high standards of care.
• Support training initiatives for staff on pet handling, safety, and health protocols.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in science, Animal Science, or veterinary technology
• Experience in veterinary hospitals, animal shelters, or pet care facilities is preferred
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Proficiency in computer applications for record-keeping and reporting
• Ability to handle animals with patience, gentleness, and respect.
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Good English for both communication and for document
