Welding Operator
About this position
Responsibilities
• Program and Operate fabrication machines.
• Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches.
• Checks height, depth and thickness using micrometres, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments.
• Work with tight tolerances.
• Reading blueprints and diagrams and conducting first/last piece inspection.
• Adjusting machine settings to meet job specifications.
• Responsible for machine operation and transferring finish goods to appropriate pallet/cart for transport to other departments.
• Proper and safely set up, operation, and calibration of CNC machines.
• Work independently, maintaining timely machine set up and finishing transfer of product.
• Perform Quality Assurance of the machine operation in order that product is modified per drawings specifications.
• During machine run times the employee watches control settings for appropriate machine readings.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
• Maintaining a Birth Certificate of product and mechanical repairs or rework adjustments.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of an order filler.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Must be able to set up and operate powder coating application equipment.
• Use proper coating techniques.
• Rework and repaint defective parts as needed.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on the various components of the coating system.
• Exercise good judgement in determining if the equipment is functioning properly.
• Loading and unloading parts on the conveyor, part prep prior to coating, part protection, and use of various tools and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• High School or Diploma is required.
• Middle school level will be considered if proven with direct experience in the related field for at least 1 year.
• Good organization skills, ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic machine operate.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.).
• Function as part of a team, both direct and cross-functional.
• Strong work ethic and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Available to work extended hours as required.
• 6S and basic problem solving.
