Accounting Manager (IFRS 17)
About this position
The Accounting Manager (IFRS 17) will be responsible for managing the implementation of new accounting standards, particularly IFRS 17 and 9, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
• Perform gap analysis and identify implications of the new accounting standards (especially IFRS 17 & 9) on the accounting & finance operations, as well as its impact to statutory financial reporting and management reporting.
• Engage with stakeholders (i.e. Consultant, Accounting & Finance, Actuarial, PMO and IT teams) to prioritize the development of the new accounting standard implementation, including the design and planning of the new end-to-end closing process.
• Understand requirements from relevant regulators and associations (i.e OIC, TFAC, TLAA, SEC) to ensure regulatory requirements are addressed in the implementation phase.
• Support the transition to IFRS 17 and parallel run. Ensure implementation of business requirements from accounting standards are appropriately tested & implemented in accounting & finance function.
• Stay updated on local accounting and industry updates. Review, revise and/or develop new company accounting policies, guidelines, and procedures to reflect external and internal requirements where applicable.
• Develop and maintain a continuous improvement culture, focus on efficient ways of working for both existing and new processes.
• Assist in ad-hoc assignments as and when required.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting (CPA or equivalent professional qualification is a plus).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting or finance of an insurance company or auditing an insurance company. Prior experience on IFRS 17 is a must.
• Knowledge in Thai Financial Reporting Standards (TFRS) and Thai Accounting Standards (TAS) is a plus.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated, resourceful and a good team player.
• Be able to communicate (written and verbal) effectively in English.
• Be able to multi-task, work independently and under pressure to meet timelines.
