About this position
Responsibilities
• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive import sourcing strategy aligned with the company's merchandising goals and budget.
• Identify, qualify, and negotiate with potential overseas suppliers to secure the best possible pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
• Manage supplier relationships, fostering trust and collaboration for long-term success.
• Oversee import compliance, ensuring adherence to all customs regulations and trade agreements.
• Work with internal teams (Product Development, Quality Assurance, Logistics, Point of Sales) to streamline the import process.
• Analyze import data to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize sourcing strategies.
• Manage and develop the import sourcing team, ensuring their skills and knowledge are up-to-date.
• Stay informed on global trade trends, sourcing markets, and potential disruptions (e.g., tariffs, geopolitical issues).
• Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate potential import risks and disruptions.
Requirements
• Experience in import sourcing, preferably within the retail industry.
• 7+ Years of Experience working as retail industry.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sourcing strategies.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience in securing competitive pricing from overseas suppliers.
• In-depth understanding of international trade regulations and customs compliance procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
• Proficient in import/export software and data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost optimization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
