System Engineer - Open Platform (Hybrid)
About this position
The System Engineer - Open Platform (Hybrid) is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing virtualization and containerization platforms, ensuring system availability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals.
Responsibilities
• Design and manage virtualization and containerization Platform (VMware, OpenShift, etc.).
• Install, configure, and maintain virtual machines, operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Monitor and optimize all installed infrastructure for performance, scalability, capacity planning, and troubleshoot issues.
• Design, deploy, and manage storage solutions, including SAN and NAS systems (FC, iSCSI, NFS, etc.).
• Implement and maintain security, backup, recovery, and redundancy strategies.
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Develop and implement automation scripts for system and storage tasks to write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, network, and security, to support organizational goals.
• Provide technical expertise and support to other IT teams.
• Collaborate with other IT professionals to plan and implement infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
• Create and maintain system and storage documentation. Keep documentation up to date with changes and configurations.
• Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations. Implement security measures and ensure system integrity. Streamline repetitive processes to improve efficiency.
Requirements
• Proven experience in infrastructure design, administration, and management.
• Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (VMware, OCP, etc.)
• Experience with system and storage technologies (Server, SAN, NAS, RAID configurations).
• Proficiency in operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, etc.).
• Scripting skills for automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
• Familiarity with security and compliance standards in the banking industry.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), storage-specific certifications or equivalent.
