International Sourcing Specialist
About this position
The International Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, managing, and negotiating with international suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness in food sourcing, while also developing strategies that align with the company's goals.
Responsibilities
Supplier Identification and Management:
• Identify and evaluate potential international suppliers in line with the company’s quality and cost requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships and consistent quality.
• Conduct regular audits and performance reviews of suppliers to ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Negotiation and Contracting:
• Negotiate terms and conditions, prices, and contracts with suppliers to secure optimal costs and quality.
• Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure contracts meet regulatory requirements.
Market Analysis and Strategy Development:
• Conduct market research and monitor global trends in food sourcing, pricing, and quality.
• Develop sourcing strategies that align with the company’s business goals, cost-saving initiatives, and sustainability objectives.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Ensure sourced products meet industry standards, food safety regulations, and company quality guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain quality control throughout the supply chain and to address any issues.
Logistics and Inventory Management:
• Collaborate with logistics to manage lead times, optimize inventory, and reduce risks of delays.
• Maintain records of shipments, invoices, and inventories, and analyze sourcing data to improve efficiency.
Budget and Cost Control:
• Monitor sourcing budget and contribute to cost-reduction initiatives without compromising on quality.
• Prepare reports and analyses of sourcing costs and savings to inform management and decision-makers.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in international sourcing or procurement within the food industry.
• Proven track record in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, certifications, and global supply chain logistics.
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
• Fluent in English both writing and speaking.
Preferred Skills:
• Multilingual abilities to communicate with diverse suppliers.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices in sourcing.
• Understanding of the market dynamics and trends in the food industry, including seasonal variations and commodity pricing.
