Instrument Manager (Rayong Plant)
About this position
The Instrument Manager at the Rayong Plant is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning and reliability of instrumentation and systems through maintenance, compliance, and digitalization initiatives.
Responsibilities
Instrumentation Maintenance System:
• To ensure proper monitoring & maintenance systems are in place for the plant Instrumentation/Systems, to achieve their effective functioning / reliability.
• To maintain/review the procedures, checklist & spare parts required to carry out the maintenance of the Instruments & Systems.
• To establish & carry out PM / CM & back up activities for the DCS/PLC & Safety Systems, to ensure the highest functional availability and safety integrity. In addition, to ensure full compliance to the PM-schedules for the entire Instrument Maintenance Systems in SAP.
• To constantly review the life cycle of the DCS/PLCs & Safety systems, for the timely procurement of the spares and/or the planning for upgradations, to ensure their availability.
Failure Analysis, RCA & Reliability Improvement:
• To facilitate reliability study for Instrumentation Systems and to implement reliability centered maintenance.
• To carry out failure analysis for the Instrument & System failures and to implement remedial / preventive actions.
• To eliminate repetitive failures through case studies & root-cause analysis.
Modifications/Special Projects & Shutdown Management:
• To ensure that the modification / Special projects & CAPEXes executed as per the 'Management of Plant Change' procedure, maintaining the system integrity and the standards.
• To safely & effectively execute the major / Turn-around shutdown activities, managing the cost & time through proper planning, preparation, coordination and supervision as required.
Compliance with Systems & Training of Subordinates:
• To guide & coach sub-ordinates to bring out the maximum of each personnel and to develop their technical & managerial skills.
• To ensure compliance to ISO, 5S, Safety and other management systems, in line with company objectives.
• To ensure that training systems & plans are in place for the subordinates, to maintain safe & effective maintenance practices.
Digitalization & Industry 4.0 Activities
• To lead as the site's digital champion, in on boarding the ongoing digital projects and to bring-in innovations in adopting the digital tools & technologies, to leverage the asset full potentials.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in instrumentation or electronics engineering
• 10 – 15 years of experience and should have sound knowledge of working of instrument equipment/systems in petrochemical plant preferably in PTA plant, prior experience in similar position preferred.
• Good knowledge of Instrument system-DCS/PLCs & SIS and Instrument equipment/spare parts selection, bidding review, relevant design/maintenance standards (IEC, ISA, API, ANSI, ISO), ISO, Lean Six Sigma (6S) and HAZOP studies & safety system implementation.
• Required skill set of project design review, shutdown job planning & supervision.
• Good communication skills in English is a must.
• Hand on experience with MS offices and knowledge in ERP/SAP is advantage.
