About this position

The Import Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the import process of goods and materials for the company. They will be in charge of coordinating with suppliers, customs officials, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient import operations. This position reports to the Operations Director and plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth import procedures and optimizing supply chain management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the import process for the company, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods.
• Develop and implement import strategies and policies to optimize the company's import operations.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to ensure smooth importation of goods.
• Monitor and track import shipments, ensuring compliance with import regulations and documentation requirements.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers to ensure competitive pricing and quality service.
• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities and reliability.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and production, to forecast import needs and ensure sufficient inventory levels.
• Manage import budgets and expenses, ensuring cost-effective import operations.
• Stay updated on import regulations, trade agreements, and customs procedures to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
• Train and supervise import staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and accurate import processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, international trade, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an import manager or in a similar role, preferably in the retail or manufacturing industry.
• In-depth knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, and international trade laws.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills to liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs officials.
• Proficient in using import management software and familiar with supply chain management principles.
