About this position

The Assistant Manager, GTS Controls Office is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and implementation of Trade and Guarantee related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all guidelines, and supporting a strong risk compliance culture.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing maintenance/review and, where required, implementation of new Trade and Guarantee related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all Group, legal and compliance guidelines. To include responsibility for implementation of Business Risk Control Advice and ownership of the Trade and Guarantees Department Instruction Manuals.
• Control and monitoring of the timely implementation of internal and external findings and observations together with any issues raised by external stakeholders/regulators.
• Be the escalation and coordination point for compliance related approvals including liaison with Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance, Relationship Managers, Legal and offshore approval points, where required.
• Support the implementation of Global Standards requirements in GTRF, including representing GTRF on the wider project team and supporting a strong risk compliance culture – particularly in relation to FCC (AML, Sanctions, 6th filter) and lending fraud risks.
• Responsible to monitor the results of Quality Assurance for WOLF hits, AML Red Flags and Sanctions Compliance performed by GSC.
• Support the implementation of Business Risk Control Communications, within GTRF Services.
• Independent Review and Escalation
• Escalation of incidents or underlying issues identified to GTRF Services Manager and provide assistance in implementing and managing remediation, training and process/procedure review.

Requirements

• Individual requires minimum 3 years’ experience in trade finance operations, preferably within HSBC.
• Ability to digest complex policy and procedural requirements and articulate clear guidance to a diverse team, both verbally and as written procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, particularly in investigative questioning/analysis.
• Must be motivated, proactive and flexible with an ability to deliver often difficult messages professionally and confidently.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• An eye for detail and display a high degree of accuracy.
