Application Engineer – Distribution Automation, Protection and Control. /SCADA
About this position
The Application Engineer – Distribution Automation, Protection and Control/SCADA is responsible for promoting and developing technical solutions for electrical distribution networks, ensuring competitiveness, and providing technical leadership and training.
Responsibilities
• Promotes technically Automation & Communication portfolio (IEDs, RTUs, Wireless and SCADA) and participates to their commercial development for electrical Distribution networks.
• Contributes to product specifications, application and testing requirements for commercial acceptance.
• Performs analytic and diagnostic studies to determine most suitable technical solution to meet customer needs in the segment of Distribution Automation (<150kV).
• Leads Homologations / certifications / Proof of Concepts.
• Proposes technical solutions for complex enquiries.
• Offers technical advice and provides comments on enquiry specifications for customers/channels/Sales Engineers with regards to Hitachi Energy products/systems/applications IEDs, RTUs, Wireless and SCADA portfolio.
• Provides technical leadership and support during the technical meeting, product presentations and negotiations.
• Ensures most competitive design taking into account the market situation and customer’s conditions.
• Identifies which approach (e.g. direct sales, consortium, or channel) can be applied to better serve the customer.
• Supports bid/no bid analyses and decisions.
• Participates in project risk review processes.
• Direct relations with customers, Channel partners, Distributors, Potential Third-Party suppliers.
• Supports Sales organizations during the technical meetings, product presentations and negotiations.
• Ensures technical links with mother factories and global Product managers.
• Offers product/solution/service-related trainings.
• Perform trainings internally and externally on promoted products and applications.
• Lead, drive and hold itself accountable for the highest standards of health, safety and environment to ensure Zero Harm is achieved.
• Responsible for compliance with relevant HSE policy and procedures, ensuring proactive risk assessments take place and corrective actions monitored/followed up.
• Build an injury, incident, near miss and hazard reporting culture within the team, guaranteeing reported incidents will be investigated and action taken.

Requirements
• Engineering/Trade qualifications – Electrical or equivalent, 5-10 years’ experience in specific product and software RTUs, Wireless and SCADA; especially in Distribution System Operators markets and Industries.
• Strong knowledge in power systems, software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, industry protocols such as (IEC-61850, DNP, 60870-5, Modbus), Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and industry SCADA practices.
• Advanced computer skills across MS Office, MSTeams, Outlook, Sharepoint, Salesforce.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, high attention to detail.
