Sr. Test Development Engineer, AME
About this position
The Senior Test Engineer of AME is responsible for defining test development technology based on Harman products to support the planning, development, and implementation of test systems for audio amplifiers, infotainment systems, and associated telematics modules.
Responsibilities
• Plan and Design Test Systems
• Estimate test strategies and costs during the Request for Quotation (RFQ) phase of new business
• Work with the Design Team to analyze new designs and develop test specifications
• Based on the test requirements, determine the appropriate test strategy, including the required test methods, hardware, and software
• Define test points and conditions for all relevant tests, diagnosis, and repair functions.
• Act as the main interface with assigned projects for all test-related issues.
• Review all assemblies for testability and interact with the design to improve test access, and overage, and reduce the cost of the test.
• Execute Test System Realization
• Work with suppliers to design and build the systems in a cost-effective manner and to ensure that schedule, cost, and quality objectives are met.
• Conduct detailed test programming using appropriate script languages.
• Ensure that all test strategies and components function correctly via pilot factory processes and verifications.
• Meet all project requirements for prototype and design verification builds, ensuring that appropriate levels of test systems are available for each phase.
• Ensure that each test system is optimized prior to launch to minimize cycle time, minimize false failures, and maximize effective test coverage.
• Document the final system.
• Execute Test System launch and delivery to production
• Ensure a smooth system installation at the manufacturing site.
• Ensure a thorough system validation at the manufacturing site, including all setup and verification steps.
• Ensure a smooth handover to the manufacturing team, including full training and documentation.
• Monitor performance during launch for a minimum of 90 days using statistical techniques in order to ensure that a capable process is handed over to production.
• Series Production Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
• Recognize new requirements and work with production to successfully introduce new test elements during serial production
• Monitor and contribute to the improvement of Test Yields, Test Efficiency, test Intermittencies, Electrical Defects, and overall test performance.
