Manager – Laboratory & Chemical Manufacturing
About this position
Under the direction of Operations Director, this position is responsible for driving VES methodologies with accountability through daily management of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost, People, 5S and VES related subjects in Laboratory & Chemical Manufacturing department.
Responsibilities
• Ensure strict adherence to chemical handling and safety protocols in both the production and laboratory environments.
• Ensure chemical compliance with local and other regulatory bodies.
• Provide updated records/ data to relevant parties and regulatory bodies.
• Manage waste disposal and hazardous material protocols, ensuring environmental safety compliance.
• Supervise and train production staff to ensure adherence to manufacturing standards and safety regulations.
• Address and mitigate any safety hazards in the area.
• Planning, organizing, and supervising the chemical laboratory and chemical production processes.
• Ensure production targets are met within the specified time and budget constraints.
• Monitor the daily operations of the manufacturing floor to ensure efficiency and productivity.
• Provide updated records/ data to relevant parties, e.g. quality, logistics and production control to support a smooth cooperation and effective communication among all relevant departments.
• Monitor and ensure physical and system information are accurate and updated.
• Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned by director.
• Supervise laboratory technicians in conducting tests, analysis, and research on chemical products and raw materials.
• Oversee the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring precision and reliability in testing processes.
• Ensure laboratory practices comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Prepare reports based on test results and collaborate with production teams for product adjustments or improvements.
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet company standards, customer expectation and regulatory specifications.
• Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specification and operating or production problems.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production processes.
• Address and resolve any issues.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in laboratory and chemical manufacturing management.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in laboratory and production management software.
