About this position

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist position in Jakarta, Indonesia, focuses on advancing gender equity and social inclusion within the fisheries sector through capacity building and community engagement as part of the USAID Ber-IKAN Project.

Responsibilities

• Build capacity among selected individuals to serve as leaders in their community to organize gender-focused activities.
• Participate in technical mentoring activities on gender-related issues.
• Organize and support community group formation and management.
• Promote gender equality and social inclusion for sustainable fisheries.
• Address challenges faced by women in the fisheries sector, including lack of information about assistance programs and obstacles to participation in government fisher assistance programs.
• Facilitate access to capacity building opportunities and capital for economic development.

Requirements

• Proven experience in gender equality and social inclusion initiatives.
• Strong understanding of the fisheries sector and its socio-economic dynamics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in capacity building and community engagement.
• Familiarity with USAID or similar donor-funded projects is an advantage.
