About this position

The Climate Change Capacity Strengthening Expert will work closely with the USAID Ber-IKAN Chief of Party to support the implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation activities within the USAID Ber-IKAN project in Indonesia.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the USAID Ber-IKAN Chief of Party.
• Integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation activities into the overall USAID Ber-IKAN work.
• Address Indonesia’s fisheries issues exacerbated by climate change impacts and IUU fishing activities.
• Support small-scale fisheries that are vulnerable to climate change impacts, natural disasters, and market distortion.
• Contribute to the management of biologically significant areas of priority fisheries under improved sustainable fisheries resource management.
• Enhance supply chain resilience to climate change impacts.
• Facilitate training and increase awareness among stakeholders to adapt to the effects of climate change.

Requirements

• Relevant academic qualifications in environmental science, climate change, or related fields.
• Proven experience in climate change adaptation and mitigation, particularly in the fisheries sector.
• Strong understanding of sustainable fisheries management practices.
• Experience working with local stakeholders and communities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
