About this position

The IP Patent Specialist is responsible for managing patent applications, conducting patent searches, advising on IP strategy, ensuring compliance with IP laws, and providing training on IP matters.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications.
• Coordinate with external patent attorneys and agents.
• Ensure timely responses to patent office actions and communications.
• Conduct patent searches to assess the patentability of new inventions.
• Analyse prior art and provide recommendations on patent filing strategies.
• Monitor competitor patents and industry trends.
• Advise on IP strategy and portfolio management.
• Provide guidance on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues.
• Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to identify and protect new inventions.
• Ensure compliance with international IP laws and regulations.
• Manage IP-related disputes and litigation.
• Maintain IP records and documentation.
• Conduct IP training sessions for employees.
• Promote IP awareness and best practices within the company.
• Oversee and manage the company's patent portfolio to ensure the protection of key innovations.
• Develop and implement strategies for the protection and commercialization of intellectual property.
• Conduct IP risk assessments and provide strategic recommendations to mitigate risks.
• Assist in managing IP litigation and enforcement actions.
• Work closely with R&D and engineering teams to identify patentable inventions and ensure proper documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
• Experience in patent prosecution, preferably within a technology company.
• Strong knowledge of international IP laws and patent filing procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in Oil and Gas industry.
• Proficiency in IP management software and databases.
• Familiarity with trademark and copyright law.
