PI Material Engineer
About this position
Continental is seeking a PI Material Engineer to industrialize new products and technologies into production, ensuring a close working interface between the plant and R&D while providing technical support and overseeing specifications.
Responsibilities
• Industrialize new products and new technology into production.
• Ensure close working interface as business partner between plant and R&D.
• Provide technical support by triggering the necessary industrialization activities and business improvement measures.
• Oversee introduction, development and maintenance of specifications.
• Lead structured problem solving tasks/projects for industrialization challenges in the plant and execute industrialization activities of new and experimental materials, products and processes in close cooperation with R&D. (Trigger performance neutral alternatives).
• Offer technical alternatives which are optimized for process capabilities, cost, minimized rework and comply with the established Release Notice Procedure, Cured Tire Dimensions, and QMD Standards.
• Ensure that internal KPIs are met on a consistent basis and initiate structured problem solving tasks in case of deviations.
• Ensure introduction of new raw materials and compounds on time with consideration of the local manufacturing process capabilities.
• Ensure SOP of new products and technologies according to R&D requirements and plant objectives and ensure the creation and distribution of all related.
• Drive the 3-4-1 concept within the plant and provide technical support to production on performance relevant constructional / tires engineering issues by using appropriate problem solving methods.
• Promote teamwork and efficient distribution of tasks within the 3-4-1 and business team concept within the plant organization.
• Assess plant readiness based on future R&D requirements in terms of invest and capacity.
• Drive process to translate R&D requirements into tangible impacts on the plant (in terms of invest, capacity, capability).
• Supervises and manages projects related to industrialization and continuous improvement.
• Working with project management structure in the plant.
• Ensure implementation of measures and maintain controls.
• Raise awareness and provide information about ESH responsibilities and duties.
Requirements
• Relevant degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience in industrialization processes and project management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Knowledge of tire technology and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to assess and manage project risks effectively.
• Familiarity with ESH responsibilities and standards.
