About this position

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for overseeing database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and availability, while also managing migrations and upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overseeing the installation, administration, maintenance, monitoring, optimize performance, technical support, and problem resolution for database systems
• Builds and reports on database systems performance and availability metrics.
• Responsible for database backup and restore functions, scheduled tests of DR availability.
• Review database systems architecture of the projects
• Evaluate the database solution to comply with security.
• Installing, implementing database systems and security hardening including HA/DR solution to ensure the database availability.
• Implement and maintain database checklist and best practice recommendations.
• Migrate/Upgrade/Patch database systems to latest version to fix bugs/improve security
• Serve IT Service Request and communicate with requestor to gather required information for implementing the service
• Plan and execute Service Requests / Changes in accordance with Bumrungrad policies and procedures
• Resolve incident on timely manner and prevent the issue reoccurrence
• Always find room of improvements
• Attend training (not limited to class room, instructor led) or development activity
• Pursue and maintain current professional certification

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree สาขา Computer Engineering Computer Science or related field, and/or higher degree
• Certified MCSA SQL Server DB Administration
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (Optional)
• At least 5 years of experience in a database administrator, data engineer role.
• Technical hands-on experience of MS SQL Server database administration on Enterprise systems.
• Has experienced on database migration in large-scale environment, implementing ETL to load data to Data Warehouse from various sources.
• Expert in MS SQL Server Database Administration
• Experienced in designing database system and data warehouse architecture
• Experienced in database migration, implementing ETL/ELT to load data to Data Warehouse/Data Lake from various sources (with SSIS, other ETL tools)
• Experienced in NoSQL DB in Linux Platform or Linux System Administration are advantageous
• Experienced in Reporting tools i.e. Tableau, Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) are advantageous
• Experienced in data security management, including of data privacy and data protection law are advantageous
• Experienced in IT incident and change management processes are advantageous
• Good command of English with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Advanced analytical skills, be well organized, able to anticipate and evaluate the impact of possible problems and solutions prior to implementation
