About this position

The Emergency Medical Referral Translation Assistant will assist in the referral of patients from camps to Thai hospitals and back under the supervision of the Senior Health Manager and Senior Referral Officer.

Responsibilities

• Take care of patients at the Patient House (PH)
• Manage referrals according to IRC policy
• Follow up on patients from arrival to Umphang (PH/Thai hospital) to their departure to the camp
• Inform all patients and relatives about PH rules and regulations and ensure they are followed
• Register all patients upon arrival at the PH or Thai hospital in case of an emergency
• Daily prepare the New Patient Registration form and send to Thai hospital
• Record Daily summary of IPD patient and send to Senior Medical Referral Officer twice a week - Daily patient planning
• Record hospital information upon discharge
• Daily inform KRC the number of companions of patients who are admitted to the hospital
• In case of suspected infectious diseases, take preventive measures
• In case of victims of SGBV, treat according to IRC protocol
• Check that referral documents, Lema (Medical record book), and any other patient papers are correctly filled upon arrival and before departure to the camp
• Ensure that treatment prescribed from the hospital is well transmitted to the patient and camp medical team
• Take care and follow up on patients at Thai hospitals
• Make appointments with necessary specialists for consultations
• Organize transport to and from the hospital for patients in coordination with IRC Umphang drivers
• Arrange administrative formalities upon admission and discharge in case of hospitalization
• Distribute the 'Admission set' to patients who are hospitalized
• Assist patients during consultations, follow-ups, and hospitalizations
• Visit daily hospitalized patients
• Be aware of the patient's diagnosis and follow all tests administered by Thai doctors to inform Senior Health Manager/Senior Medical Referral Officer and avoid unnecessary tests or prolonged hospitalizations
• Accompany and support Senior Health Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Previous experience in a similar role preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations
• Fluency in Thai and English languages
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Willingness to travel and work in remote areas
