Plant Manager Biomass
About this position
The Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complete operations of the biomass boiler installation, ensuring the highest level of availability and performance to meet client production demands. This role will be crucial in optimizing energy usage while adhering to safety protocols and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
Operational Excellence:
• Develop and implement strategies to achieve and maintain optimal availability and performance of the biomass boiler installation.
• Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and track operational efficiency.
• Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
• Champion a safety-first culture by enforcing and enhancing safety protocols to safeguard the well-being of all employees and contractors.
• Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations and standards related to biomass boiler operations.
• Implement and monitor environmental compliance programs, striving for continuous improvement in emissions reduction and waste management.
Preventive Maintenance:
• Collaborate with planning teams and client staff to develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance plan to minimize downtime and equipment failures.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure the plant's equipment and systems are operating efficiently and safely.
Resource Management:
• Manage biomass fuel supply and consumption to optimize usage and reduce costs.
• Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Team Leadership:
• Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of skilled operators and technicians, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
Performance Reporting:
• Prepare regular reports for management, detailing operational KPIs, equipment performance, and maintenance activities.
• Provide actionable insights to improve the overall efficiency of the biomass boiler installation.
Emergency Preparedness:
• Develop and implement emergency response plans to address potential incidents related to biomass boiler operations.
• Conduct regular safety drills to ensure all staff members are familiar with emergency procedures.
BECIS’s organization is lean. Consequently, the whole staff will occasionally be involved in various duties outside of their usual scope of work, such as project and development work and admin tasks.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in the operation and maintenance of biomass boiler systems, with a track record of achieving operational KPIs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to biomass boiler operations.
• Strong understanding of environmental compliance standards and sustainable practices.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a diverse team and liaise with regulatory authorities.
