Strategy & M&A Specialist
About this position
The Strategy & M&A Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing the BESS strategy, conducting market research, and identifying potential mergers and acquisitions in the Energy Storage and Services sector.
Responsibilities
• Develop country BESS strategy, do market research and work with country manager to develop long and mid-term strategy, on an annual basis.
• Develop mergers and acquisitions cases in Energy Storage and Services with country and at corporate level.
• Help in execution of strategy, identification of potential M&A options.
• Work with primary and secondary research companies, market reports and talk to consultants to estimate the key market drivers and develop Strategy & Planning for mid and long term.
• Develop network with key stakeholders (developers, consultants and financial institutions) in the allocated region to substantiate the strategy.
• Secondary research of the market, market attractiveness, risk profiling and potential opportunities.
• SWOT analysis of projects.
• Mapping of key players and their activities in market, work with analyst and consultants to forecast the future of utility BESS projects.
• Understanding of grants and other incentives in respective markets.
• Based on market analysis, segment and identify potential opportunities in mid term.
• Run the opportunities through the country teams and support the identified projects with more details.
• Help country develop its execution plan for the year and mid-term strategy to develop pipeline.
• Risk mitigation plan for potential risk on BESS projects.
• Develop business case and present with country teams at board level.
• Support how the project fits into mid/ long-term strategy.
• Opportunities for IRR improvement in mid-term.
• Fortnightly review of project pipeline and project under various stages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical, finance, and risk team for highlighting execution risks and its mitigation plan.
Requirements
• Renewable Energy experience, Business Management and Strategy or related field.
• 2-3 years’ experience in BESS / renewable market and strategy development.
• Proven experience in market mapping and developing strategy in the region.
• M&A expertise of infra projects.
• Understanding of energy market dynamics (FCAS, Ancillary, Inertia, capacity) regulatory frameworks, and grants etc.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
• Analytical bend of mind to understand the bigger picture from micro activities and ability to work in fluid environment.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools for project management, data analysis, and presentations.
• In-depth understanding of the energy markets in developed regions, grid operators, power system designs.
• Understanding of dynamic revenue streams and cost structures for renewable energy and BESS.
• Relationship management - ability to work in matrix corporate environments.
• Excellent skills in MS Office software especially Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Project.
• Fluent command of English both written and spoken (TOEIC 800+).
