Senior Accountant
About this position
Responsible for preparation of internal and external financial reporting required by the company, assisting in the preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts, processing of monthly closing activities in the general ledger, and completing supporting schedules.
Responsibilities
• Sets up the internal Month End Reporting package in Excel and opens the next period in Costpoint.
• Prepares and enters monthly Journal Entries (recurring and adjusting), conducts monthly general ledger review of P&L and Balance Sheet activity, prepares monthly software maintenance amortization spreadsheets, and posts cost pools as part of monthly closing process.
• Ensures that all intercompany balance sheet accounts balance with other business units.
• Assists in the preparation and review of the monthly Consolidated Trial Balance.
• Prepares and reviews monthly Actual versus Budget and Forecast departmental variance statements and prepares written analysis of significant variances.
• Assists in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly reporting packages sent to the corporate office.
• Distributes monthly internal departmental financials and labor reports to managers.
• Prepares and analyzes monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
• Assists in the preparation and linking of departmental spreadsheets used for annual budgets and interim forecasts.
• Ensures that all corporate, company and department guidelines are followed in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
• Prepares data and schedules for annual financial audits by independent auditors, federal and state auditors, customer auditors, and taxing authorities.
• Serves as backup to Controller for the monthly closing processes and reports, and for the weekly timesheet review and posting.
• Ensures that all reporting cutoffs and deadlines are met as per schedule as part of the weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly processes in the Finance department.
• Responsible for coordinating with 3rd party preparer the preparation of and verifying the accuracy and reasonableness Thai Statutory financial records.
• Maintains records of fixed assets including approved Capital Appropriations Requests, CIP spending, and the assignment of fixed asset numbers.
• Enters capitalized fixed assets into Costpoint, runs monthly depreciation reports, and tracks asset disposals.
• Balances monthly cash activity with corporate parent, and prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
• Provides backup as needed for Controller, accounts payable and BPTL accounting functions.
• Verifies and corrects information on weekly timesheets and transfers data to Costpoint, posts labor to General Ledger.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance and 5 to 10 years manufacturing or project accounting experience with exposure to percentage of completion accounting.
• Demonstrated understanding of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Experience of and Proficiency in the budgeting and forecasting process.
• Computer experience with knowledge of integrated accounting systems.
