Control and Instrument Designer (Oil & Gas)
About this position
The Control and Instrument Designer is responsible for executing work in accordance with project procedures and specifications, focusing on instrument layouts, wiring, installations, and compliance with design standards in the Oil & Gas sector.
Responsibilities
• Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Specifications, International Standards including Company Procedures and Standards
• Carry out the detail of Instrument layouts e.g. Instrument location plan drawing, Fire & Gas location plan drawings, Instrument cable routing (A/G & U/G) drawings, Control room/Instrument rack room layout drawings etc.
• Carry out the detail of Instrument wiring & terminations e.g. Junction box termination diagrams, marshalling termination diagrams, Instrument cable schedule including loop diagrams
• Carry out the detail of Instrument installations e.g. Process hook-ups drawings, Pneumatic hook-ups drawings, Instrument support detail drawings etc.
• Prepare material requisitions for Instrument bulk materials including technical clarification and evaluations
• Complete material take-off (MTO) covering all Instrument bulk materials.
• 3D Modelling for cable trays, junction boxes and panels etc. using 3D modelling software
• Participate in 3D Model reviews including Model review tags close-out.
• Review and ensure the design compliance in Piping isometric drawings for instrument connections, dimension and installations
Requirements
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree Instrumentation or related filed with min 3 years of experience in FEED and EPCm in Petrochemical, Refinery, Oil & Gas Projects
• Positive attitude and open to learn new things
• Familiar and hands on experience with design and drafting tools i.e. SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), AVEVA E3D Design, SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Word & Excel. etc.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for multi-discipline interfaces
• Capable of interpreting key documents including; engineering standards, project specifications, P&IDs etc.
• Self-motivated and completes given tasks to enhance the overall team performance
