About this position

The “Senior Material Planner” is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely planning, procurement and inventory management of material required for production. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, managing material requirements planning (MRP) system and working closely with various departments to support production schedules and optimize inventory levels. The Senior Material Planner will also identify and mitigate risks related to material shortage, supplier performance and supply disruptions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) schedule based on production forecasts, customer orders and inventory policies.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, negotiate terms and manage supplier relationships.
• Monitor and analyze inventory levels, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize inventory turnover and reduce excess stock.
• Collaborate with production planning, operation, procurement, RD and quality department to resolve material-related issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct regular reviews of material plans, adjusting as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, production schedules and any supply chain constraints.
• Lead initiatives to improve material planning processes, including the implementation of best practices, new technologies and system enhancements.
• Prepare and present reports on material planning performance including key metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, inventory cover day and supplier performance.
• Identify and mitigate risk associated with material shortages, supply chain disruptions and supplier performance issues (both quality, capacity and capability).
• Train and mentor junior material planners by providing guidance and support develop their skills and knowledge.
• Participate in cross functionals projects and initiatives to support overall business objectives and drive operation excellence.
• Tune up and tune down raw material inventory in response to design changes or cost saving projects ensuring optimal balance between supply and demand to minimize the write off.
• Work closely RD, Finance and Procurement team to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities related to material usage, SKU rationalization and others that related.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. CPM, CSCP) is a plus.
• Minimum 5-7 years proven experiences in Material Requirement Planning, Production Planning, Supply Chain Management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in Material Requirement Planning (MRP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and proficiency with MS office tools (Excel, Power point) for data analysis and presentation.
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies enhancing operation efficiency without over complicating processes.
• Familiarity with supply chain risk management.
