What does a Technical Accounting Manager do?
The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, working closely with the Accounting team and other departments throughout the organization to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This position requires a deep understanding of technical accounting principles, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized, detail-oriented and understands the importance of accuracy and timeliness.
Responsibilities of Technical Accounting Manager
1. Monitor and report on technical accounting issues and developments, including researching and reviewing the impact of new accounting guidance.
2. Prepare technical accounting memos, white papers, and related materials to support the company's reporting position.
3. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and other applicable financial reporting standards.
4. Participate in the review, analysis, and documentation of complex transactions.
5. Develop and maintain effective relationships with external auditors.
6. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable accounting standards.
7. Prepare technical accounting training materials and conduct technical accounting training for staff.
8. Oversee the preparation of financial statements for management and external reporting.
9. Manage the monthly close process and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
10. Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and the development of new accounting processes.
