What does a Safety Health Environment Specialist (SHE) do?

The Safety Health Environment Specialist (SHE) is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the SHE Specialist will develop and implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, and provide training to promote a culture of safety within the organization. This role will also involve investigating incidents, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, and continuously improving safety practices.

Responsibilities of Safety Health Environment Specialist (SHE)

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide training and education to employees on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain emergency response plans and business continuity strategies.
• Monitor and analyze safety data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.
• Coordinate and participate in safety committee meetings to address safety concerns and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies for hazardous tasks and processes.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety technologies to ensure continuous improvement in safety programs.
